I absolutely get it.
Life feels OVERWHELMING sometimes.
It can be a season of absolute thrashing, especially when you are ready for a new level.
When you go for your dreams.
Or sometimes it's just when life decides it's time for you to change, and so you need a kick.
Despite the reason, it can feel so sad, painful and all encompassing.
No one has it all together, I can promise you that.
I think when you look around, it can feel like you are a singular outlier without a clue.
It's an illusion that has been created by society, my love.
I know other people feel this way, why do you think I write so boldly?
We are not encouraged to cry when we need to, struggle when we feel tired or share our misfortunes with introspection.
I'm not telling you to sit in your misery forever, but to ACKNOWLEDGE it, comfort it and be in its presence for the moment. Do you know what happens when we don’t?
We become repressed.
We quite literally suck in our tears, and pull down our emotions until our authentic self is drowned in it all.
Authenticity is to feel sad when we are sad, and cry unabashedly when it's time to.
It’s the expression of all our emotions, and the expression of our ANGER.
Just know, you aren't doing as badly as your mind is telling you.
You aren’t as alone as you might believe.
There is something round the corner just waiting for you, and it often feels darkest just before the reappearance of daylight.
I have something to help you, if you feel this way right now.
It's a technique that is rarely spoken about... in fact, we aren’t encouraged to do this at all and it’s a bit backwards so I need you to trust me on this.
I need you to do absolutely nothing.
Sit down. Stand up. Lie down. Crawl into a ball.
And do nothing.
Feel what you feel, listen to your body, hold yourself.
Don't "productive" your way out of this.
Stop setting goals to avoid your pain.
Resist the urge to pretend positivity, or eat your emotions.
If that feels too hard, at least put those things on hold for the next 20 minutes.
Because I promise once you give your emotions just a moment to tell you what they need you to know... they will quiet down. They will feel heard.
Once you've listened, speak to Him.
Pray to God.
Lay down all of your worries, problems and concerns.
Some things are God problems, too big to be solved by a human.
And so, what's the point in self-destructing. There comes a time when surrender is the only option.
That is strength, my love.
If you aren't religious, you could start by just speaking. Asking for help.
I know you will get an answer.
I'll leave you on this note.
I love you. I've never known a person as strong as you, because you chose to take on life.
Every day you woke up, instead of hiding.
Every time you decided to do that scary thing, rather than lock yourself up for eternity.
Every person you loved, supported and made way for... they are grateful for you.
How do I know you did any of these things?
Because I don't know a single person who hasn't.
We are all inherently good, even the ones who chose a path of darkness began their journey as a baby... pure and GOOD.
If you were to really think about it... you know you've done at least one thing you can be proud of.
So, have faith in you. If you can, have faith in God.
We can all have faith in life. Because doesn't it always work out in some way?
All my love,
Sofia
